Gifts for knittersNo matter what the occasion is, most knitters will love getting a knitting gift. However if you aren’t a crafter or a knitter yourself, it can be difficult to choose an appropriate gift. Below are 8 options which any knitting lover would love to receive.

1. Yarn
Probably the most obvious and self explanatory choice. If possible, do your research well in advance:- what sort of yarn do they normally knit with (look at the ball band which will say what the yarn is made from e.g. merino, cashmere, acrylic etc). It might be nice to treat someone to a more expensive yarn than they normally knit with. However keep in mind the sorts of projects that they normally knit – there’s no point buying a single skein of very expensive yarn if they like to knit sweaters! Also remember to ensure that all the skeins of yarn are from the same dye lot to ensure the finished project is all the same colour.

2. Interchangeable Knitting Needles
Interchangeable needles are a fantastic gift. There are plenty of different materials to choose from including bamboo, aluminium and wood.

3. Knitting Bags
Bags are always useful for keeping wool clean and separating out different projects. There are plenty of bag designs out there to suit any knitter.

4. Knitted Jewelry Kit
Knitted jewelry kits are great fun for most knitters. There are plenty of knitted jewelry kits on the market which combine different styles and colours, so choose one you think will fit the knitter well. Make sure that all the fittings are included in the kit.

5. Ball Winder
A ball winder makes fast work of getting the yarn off the swift and into a ball and therefore make the perfect gift for an avid knitter.

6. Knitting Subscription
If your knitter has a favourite magazine, a subscription to their magazine would make a great treat.

7. An Ebook Reader
Most Ebook readers can now read a variety of online formats with ease. With purchasing books online so easy, an eBook reader is a graet way to buy and store books and knitting patterns in one handy, light device.

8. Stitch Markers
Stitch markers are used to help knitters count stitches. At a really basic level, scraps of wool can be used however it is nice to use a set of pretty stitch markers. Some are purely ornamental and pretty; other stitch markers will be an object e.g. a set of cats, so there is plenty of choice out there.
